Training Cones

Share:

Some of my training sessions can sometimes start to resemble a Christmas tree but there is no avoiding it,  cones are essential to training sessions.

Rarely do grass roots clubs get an entire space to themselves to train so cones can be used to cordon off areas, create tailored spaces or courses. There are several types but we look at the best standard cones and volcano or jumbo cones. For the best flat cones see here.

The Best 3 training cones we found

Best Overall

This pack from Forza consists of 50 cones in 5 different colours. This is good amount of each to be able to cross an entire 9v9 pitch or two lines on a 7v7. The colours are bright but the one thing I didn’t like was the plastic holder which gets lost or broken fairly quickly and you end up with a bag of cones!

  • Pros – Stack wells, sturdy and great colours.
  • Cons – The carrier is no the sturdiest.

Best for space saving

These cones from Mitre are shallower than the Forza ones and take up less space and weight in your bag.

  • Pro – Smaller, flatter
  • Cons – Slightly more expensive and light weight.

Best Volcano Cones

Sometimes you need something bigger, such as using cones as obstacles or as mini goals. This is where volcano cones can be invaluable. These are heavy duty and do not fly away at the slightest gust.

  • Pros – Good price, lighter weight than others
  • Cons – Bulky and still heavy.
