The Best Whistles!
Our tried and tested selection of coaches whistles
Love them or hate them and putting aside the debate whether or not they should be used in training, a whistle has long been seen as the coach’s badge of honour.
Should you still be officiating your matches or just using them in training a good whistle can mean the difference from compete attention and being ignored (even more).
The kids have long become pavlovian to the sound of a good whistle so here are our selection of the best whistles that we have used.

When you officiating a match or running a training session, no one wants to be sporting a whistle that is more of a whimper than a shrill!
The Best 3 Football Whistles
Best Overall - The ACME 2000!
When I was doing my UEFA C down at Falmer there was only one question I had for the instructors at the end of the 1st day! “Where did you get that whistle!!” We all agreed it was the best we had every heard. This one never leaves my neck and no one gets to borrow it!
- Pros – Loud!, loud! and loud!
- Cons – More expensive than alternatives
Best for Officiating
When getting the attention of half the country isn’t the most important thing then this pack of two whistles is a good quality back up. Won’t be too upset if one goes walkies.
- Pros – Cheap, pack of two.
- Cons – Not as loud.
Best for Price
On top of my Acme 2000! I also have a pack of these in my coach’s bag as back ups. I lend these out to other coaches and officials if they forgot theirs.
- Pros – Cheap pack of 3
- Cons – Not my ACME 2000!
